Experiments in Photojournalism

Tue Oct 14, 2008, 6:37 PM
  • Mood: Stuck
  • Listening to: Mom singing The Brady Bunch theme song
  • Reading: Crazy Love/The Irresistible Revolution
  • Watching: Hana Kimi (Taiwanese Style!)
  • Playing: At being a photographer
  • Drinking: Chocolate milk
This is going to be a rather short journal. I just wanted to prepare everyone for the random and weird photos I'll be posting in the next little bit. I figured that it would be interesting to put up some of my experiments in photojournalism.

My class has required me to take several different types of photos in various projects that we've submitted. The first project was simply to create a poster that talked about you. Easy enough, right? Wrong. No flash, no automatic photos, just you and the camera... and the aperture and the shutter speed and the ISO, etc, etc, etc.

Well, the second project was to take three pictures: one stop-action, one blurred motion, and one depth of field. I don't consider myself a photographer, so my shots are terrible. But I'll showcase them anyway, and you all can feel free to critique them.

The third project was to take 50-70 photos of a subject, human or animal, for a portrait piece. We're going to submit four of those tomorrow. It should be interesting considering I couldn't convince someone to sit for that many pictures. So... I took pictures of my dogs, hoping to show off their personalities.

Luckily for me, I have two very personable dogs.

Anyway, the projects are going to be designated with an EIP to show they're part of my class. I'll expect some rather interesting comments, so hopefully I won't be disappointed. And, once again, I'll remind everyone that I am not in the least a photographer... I just play one on TV... or something like that... lol.

Until next time...

I was noticing your pictures from Italy. You should put up the picture of our favorite "clock" from the Vatican so I can put up a goofy comment! :D
Haha... well, that might be an entertaining picture to put up...I'll have to see what I can do about that. Although, if I recall correctly, that photo is not nearly as beautiful as some of the others, but I think that's ok. I could even put it up in my nonexistent scraps collection! :P Hehehe... we'll have to see!
